Ingredients:

  • 1 large ripe apple (or 2 small ones), roughly cubed (because every horse deserves a lil’ apple sweetness!)
  • 2 large carrots, grated (Carrot-tastic!)
  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour (for that healthy twist)
  • 3 1/2 cups of oats (think of it as the “crunch” in your munch)
  • 1/2 cup of molasses (sticky, sweet, and oh-so-neat!)

Directions:

  1. Gather the Troops: Put on your favorite cowboy hat (optional but recommended) and round up all those delicious ingredients.
  2. Stirring Time: In a food processor, combine your apples, carrots, and flour. Mix it like you’re blending the finest horse feed, or at least making the best salad for your equine buddy.
  3. Oat Power: Toss in those oats, whole and delicious.
  4. The Sticky Situation: Pour in that heavenly molasses. This is the step where things might get a little…sticky. Brace yourself!
  5. Mix & Mingle: Pulse until all the ingredients are well combined. Think of it as a little dance where apples and carrots waltz together.
  6. Shape ‘em up: With your hands or a spoon, shape the mixture into small balls or patties. Whichever shape you believe your horse might fancy. Maybe even a horseshoe if you’re feeling artsy!
  7. Baking Time: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place your creations on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 15 minutes or until they turn a lovely shade of golden-brown, reminiscent of a beautiful Palomino.
  8. Cool & Serve: Allow them to cool, then present these treats to your horse and await the inevitable hoof-taps of approval.

Homemade Horse Treats are Human-Friendly

A Word of Caution: These homemade horse treats are so darn scrumptious; you might be tempted to nibble on one or two yourself. But remember, they’re horse treats! (Although, a little birdy told me they’re pretty tasty with a cup of coffee.)

In Closing:

There you have it – a recipe that’s perfect for any horse, and maybe even a daring human or two! Whether you have a majestic thoroughbred, a sassy Shetland pony, or anything in between, this recipe is the ultimate ticket to becoming their favorite human.
